Israel to host first, historic World Tour event in Tel Aviv

Lausanne, Switzerland, October 22, 2019 - Following the event in Qinzhou, China next week, Israel will play host to a 1-star double-gender FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event for the first time from November 6-9. The event is due to take place in Tel Aviv at Frishman Beach, one of the most popular spots in Israel's cosmopolitan and vibrant city.

Entry list: Men / Women

Israel’s top beach volleyball players, Sofia Starikov and Anita Dave (ranked 103 in the world), as well as Sean Faiga (former no. 45 in the FIVB ranking) and Netanel Amiram Ohana will take part in the tournament, which will be held at the same location as the Israeli Beach Volleyball national championship in August. The event will provide a prize purse of €10,000, with €5,000 at stake per gender.

“We are happy and proud to host a World Tour tournament for the first time, after hosting two editions of the U20 European Championships in 2005 and 2011 and a CEV Continental Cup event in 2015,” said Eviatar Dotan, President of the Israel Volleyball Association. “Playing host to such a tournament is very important for the development of the sport in Israel and in order to raise further awareness, especially one year ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. I wish all the players a lot of fun and a great event to all involved.”

After Israel, the 2019-2020 World Tour will travel to Qatar for the 1-star men's only Aspire Beach Volleyball Cup from November 12 to 14 and to Mexico for a 4-star double gender event in Chetumal.
